Managing natural resources such as water is one of the major problems today’s society is facing. The bathroom is a room in which every day large amounts of water are consumed and in which we can save water with a few gestures of our day to day.
At Hidrobox we leave you these guidelines to achieve sustainability in the bathroom:
Saving water in the shower
The most effective gesture to save water in the bathroom is to take a quick shower in which only an average of about 60 liters are consumed. The most advisable is to take a daily shower of approximately 5 minutes.
In addition, when we take a shower, it is very important to turn off the tap when soaping up so as not to waste all that amount of water.
Efficient bathing
There is nothing like combining our daily showers with a smart use of bathtubs. So when we feel like a relaxing bath, we can reduce water consumption by filling the bathtub by half.
Another aspect to keep in mind is water temperature. It is ideal to make sure that the temperature is correct when filling the bathtub so that later we do not have to correct it and waste more water in the attempt.
And if there are children at home, we will save time and water if we bathe the children together or with the parents. They will love the idea.
Making the most out of water
Many of us leave the tap running until the hot water comes out, especially in winter, wasting liters of water.
Therefore, we recommend having a bucket of water to collect the cold water and prevent it from ending up wasted in the drain. We can then use it for household cleaning.
Although sometimes leaving the tap running is also due to carelessness. It seems obvious, but we must remember to turn off the tap while brushing our teeth or shaving.
Eco-friendly products
To save water in the bathroom we can use eco-friendly products such as water flow reducers in the taps.
And if we have a renovation in mind, it is ideal to:
- Install a WC with double flush button that allows us to reduce consumption by using half or full load.
- To install sustainable sinks, showers, and bathtubs, that is to say, that have a low water consumption during their manufacturing process.
